In the wind that whispers,
Through the sillouetted trees, Plays a song my heart hears, An enchanting melody. It sings of love and pain, With a haunting croon. And in voices so sweet, It sings of the moon... #34 in the 100 theme challenge ------ I really wanted to get this done sooner, but I've been busy with school stuff. Critique please... I really like this one and want it to be perfect. Please tell me if anything looks wrong. edit - I changed the picture to make it a little darker. It still isn't right though, there's suppose to be more contrast and it's suppose to be darker. It always does that when I change the file to jpeg. Comments
this looks really nice, but theres some changes that could be done... ((tries to critique >.<
1. try to make the stars in the sky less evened out. real night skies have a wide range of patterns and stuff. check out tutorials and resources by *Qzma for some help on that. another way ive done night skies is to make different layers of varying opacities and then using the dissolve option of the paintbrush tool at 1% opacity with the color white. this makes a lot of stars really nice and really fast 2. the grass could be done different :/ try to stay away from the grass tool as much as you can since it makes it seem really "evened out" and stuff. also, everyone knows the grass tool D: sometimes its just better to paint in grass yourself, though it can be quite tedious at times. id also suggest the color to be grayer and maybe a tad darker, but not too much. 3. the anatomy on the head isnt great. id probably make the white chin show more (maybe double the amount of white) and then move the eye a bit up and to the right so itd look like Firefly is looking up more and i think thatd make it match a lot better with where the ears are positioned. as for the stuff i like, excellent job on the tree bark hope ive helped some! im not used to giving critiques XD -- First off, this looks great, youre already better with digital paintings than I am
~ -- This comment is probably rather belated, many apologies. Wow, that helped a lot. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to do the stars, that was the first time I'd ever tried them. I'm going to try what you suggeested and see if I can make it work.
I thought maybe I'd use a grass tool this time because the last time I painted the grass in myself and it took forever, but I agree that it looks too evened out. I thought that as soon as I was done and tried to fix it, but it ended up looking horrible. I'm going to have to repaint it from scratch. The color on the entire picture should be darker, (some of the grass even looks almost black around the edges) and it is when it's in photoshop, but everytime I convert the file to jpeg and upload it, it screws up the coloring. I'll have to find a way to fix that. And about the head... well, I'm just not very good at doing her head, I really don't have any excuse for that. I'm going to try and fix it though, I'm looking at a lot of refs so that I can make her more cat-like. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. -- Avatar by ~Winter-Moonfall Thank you so much
-- Avatar by ~Winter-Moonfall nice coloring and whatnot, and the rendering of the moon is PRICELESS! Great job, yo!
